It is getting way too easy for people to start yelling "Luck" because a person caught a break on DL Friday while the second place finisher didn't. George, I never thought I'd see the day where someone believes that having a player land on the DL during the week is good "luck". Nobody wants one of their starters landing on the DL during the week and I don't care who you have on the bench to replace that person for three days. It's not good luck when that happens.
You boys have had a nice, lively conversation about two-a-week moves, daily DL moves and the current Friday DL Rule. I've enjoyed it. But like I've said before, I'm not going down the path for the main event of daily transactions or multiple week moves and the current Friday DL Rule is being used by many owners and is a time manageable move for current players. I just don't see us going beyond that in the future and I don't see any reason to go back to the non-Friday DL rule anytime soon either. It's hard to be much clearer than that. [/QUOTE]Well, on the surface it doesn't sound like a good thing but imagine this. Team 1 and Team 2 both enter the last week of the season in a dead tie... Team 1 doesn't have a game on Monday but Team 2 does. Their powerhitting, megasuperstar 1B goes down and is put on the DL (I realized as I was typing that I'm not sure if that can happen by MLB rules). Team 2 is now down a bigtime player. Team 1 plays on Tuesday and their superstar OF goes down and onto the DL. Actually it seems that Karma has thrown her hand in and evened things out. Lo and behold, on Friday guess what? Team 2 has an extra 1B but Team 1 has no one. Team 2 gets the replacement and the win in the Main Event. Oh yeah, neither of these guys were injury prone. And Team 2 ends up winning because that guy, the reserve guy, steals a base. In my mind, Team 2 does not win because they were better, just a little luckier that they had a reserve guy.
Anyway, I'm not really into this debate. I just hate to see a major rule change that hasn't been completely worked over. I voted strongly against the two most significant rule changes (KDS and Friday DL Rule) but I have at least recanted my nay on the KDS. In the end, that turned into almost a perfect rule for the game. I'm still out on the Friday DL rule, tho' it has benefited me quite often.
Besides I'm advocating for a daily satellite league so that those of us who want to micro-manage our teams can
