Joe Passaro wants to throw his name into the hat for the NFBC Ultimate Draft League on Sunday, March 20th. We already have 16 firm commitments, so we'll keep taking names and see if we can get enough interest for a second league. We'll figure this out soon enough, but I like the fact that we have more participants who want to compete. Keep 'em coming as it's only Feb. 2nd.

Ultimate Auction Leagues have 15 teams each. What's the roster structure going to be. I'm thinking it will be the same as other NFBC leagues but 9(23 Total) or 10(24) Pitchers?

They will be same as NFBC: 14 offensive players and 9 pitchers. 30 players, seven-man reserves for Ultimate Draft League and Ultimate Auction League.

Greg, I understand that you want to keep things consistent (rosters, free agents, etc.) between the NFBC and the Ultimate Leagues. However, if all of the participants of the Ultimate League are in favor of changing the prize structure to something like 50,000/10,000/2,500, would you be okay with that?

If every owner in any league agreed to the same proposal it would be a minor miracle. Right now people are signing up with the proposed prize structure in mind and it will remain that way, but if you show me 15 votes for any proposal I'll gladly change it.
Don't change to $50K just to get Gekko in. He's not joining this one.

Yoni Bornstein of Thornhill, Ontario competed in the NFBC last year, but this year he is more interested in the NFBC Ultimate Auction League. Yoni has just signed up for the Ultimate Auction League and is guaranteed a spot there, likely bidding from New York. We now have 14 guaranteed spots for that auction league and will continue taking tentative signups for both Ultimate Leagues to see how many leagues we'll form. So far so good.

Talk with my people? You mean you need to ask Mommy and Daddy for the money?

Ari Benjamin and Leonard Ringle had great success in the NFBC last year and they plan on returning for the main event with separate teams in 2005. But they also want to team up in the NFBC Ultimate League and will take a spot in either the Auction League or the Draft League. We now have 35 participants on that list and we'll keep taking names with the goal of creating a third Ultimate League on Sunday, March 20th. Thanks guys and we'll stay in touch.

I would love for Gekko to participate in the Ultimate league. However, my desire to make it 50/10/2.5 has nothing to do with getting Gekko to play. I don't even think he was the one who first proposed a higher 1st prize (lajolla, was it?).
Please note that the revised split does not impact Krause in any way--only the 3 teams who finish in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. It's a way to make this contest even MORE interesting. Also, let's face it: with taxes a major consideration, that extra $10,000 would really come in handy.
How about it guys? Any of the 35 or so participants opposed to the chance of winning more money? If there are opposing views, I will immediately drop my case. Greg is correct in that everyone who signed up did so with the expectation of a 40/15/7.5 split of prizes, so there's no use in creating a mess for our friends in Iola.
Let's hear your views.

I checked. Gekko proposed a 45K first prize on 1/12/05. About 15 minutes later, lajolla had a 50K first prize suggestion.

Nice catch Gordie, I didn't think you were that good. Most of the folks on this board say that you aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer. My reason for keeping this going is that you are so much fun to pick on and besides, we all want to know if your football winnings have paid for that surgery to get you some new gonads so that you have the gonads to sign up to play NFBC this year and tell everyone who your team is. But alas, my money is with the majority here, GEKKO is to chicken #$%& to do that.

Ken Norred of Ashland, Alabama is definitely in for the $5,000 Ultimate Draft League as we now have at least 18 interested parties for the draft and possibly 17 for the Auction. Let's just keep taking names and see if there's enough for possibly three Ultimate Leagues without leaving anyone out. Contact me if you're still interested.
