Stupid Place in the Lineup

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Tue Apr 07, 2009 8:56 am

Injuries and platoon type situations aside, here are some of the worst of opening day starting lineups in one lineup:

1. DeWayne Wise

2. John Baker

3. Mark Teahen

4. Khalil Greene

5. Nomar Garciaparra

6. Geoff Blum

7. Matt Kemp

8. Alexie Ramirez

9. Mike Aviles

For different reasons, these players should not be close to these numbers by seasons end.

Your choice of starting pitcher with this lineup, Dallas Braden (L) or Jeff Suppan (R).

I'll agree with all of those, but Baker isn't bad... not saying he is a great #2 hitter, but he's solid and who else is going to hit there for them? Maybe if Hermida steps up this year...

ummm.. I can think of a TON of pitchers worse than both of those sadly... Adam Eaton, Sidney Ponson, Horacio Ramirez, Kris Benson, Jeff Karstens, Cha Seung Baeck, Alfredo Simon, Mark Hendrickson, Carlos Silva, Scott Richmond, Ricky Romero, Brian Moehler, Mike Hampton, Russ Ortiz, Dustin Moseley, Shane Loux, etc etc etc...

I'm ok with Teahan batting third if he can build on his spring training. Butler and Gordon should work their way the lineup as the season goes on.

Call me a traditionalist,Shawn, but I can't agree. Batting third in the lineup is reserved for the best of a team's hitters. Teahen is nowhere close.

Maybe its Hillman rewarding Teahen for a great spring and making the move to 2b. I hope so.

Teahen doesen't do anything particularly well, and that is the opposite of what a #3 hitter should be.

Career high of 82 rbi, 50% of batted balls are grounders.

This is the only time of year to get excited about Teahen.

Hillman is giving him a lot of responsibility switching positions and hitting third. By May, the ladder won't be a problem.

He is on pace for zero RBI this year. :D

I dont see Ramirez moving up much out of the 8 hole.. Ozzie makes that lineup and knows Alexei will draf about 27 walks for the whole year.. Keeping his OBP near 300

Considering the lineup, Pence at 7 is about or just as bad as Kemp at 7.

On the verge of dropping 2 out of 4 to an inept Padre team, maybe Torre will decide to move the team's best hitter out of the 7 hole. Why get Kemp extra swings when you can lead off with Blake DeWitt?

Here's an idea for ya Joe:

1 Furcal

2 Ethier

3 Ramirez

4 Kemp

5 Loney

6 Martin

7 Blake

8 Hudson

9 P

Is it value, value, value if a guy that hits 50% groundballs his career is put into a supreme part of the lineup and still hits 50% groundballs?

Trey Hillman is rivalring Torre for worst lineup

A good lineup for KC without Guillen

1. DeJesus

2. Aviles

3. Crisp

4. Jacobs

5. Butler

6. Gordon

7. Olivo

8. Teahen

9. Callaspo

Switching DeJesus with Crisp would be ok, but both would have more of an impact with this lineup.

Nice thought Doughboys but here's what Trey did for us in the home opener:

1. Crisp (yup)

2. Aviles (I like this)

3. Dejesus (maybe if he starts hitting, but not now)

4. Teahen (huh....and in OF to boot)

5. Gordon (OK)

6. Butler (huh)

7. jacobs (yup...this is where you want the guy you signed to bury your top prospect among others hitting)

8. Olivo (OK)

9. Callaspo (about right)

Not sure of the logic but the run KC scored today was on a bloop double that could easily have been an error if Swisher wasn't carrying a refrigerator on his back when he slid, caught, and dropped the ball.

Send us Torre and we'll end you Trey...and some good BBQ

If I'm Matt Kemp tonight I am steaming pissed off. Down three in the 9th, based loaded and one out ... a pair of 260-hitting, zero HR guys come to the plate from the 5 and 6 slot and strikeout, while the hottest hitter in the majors outside of Markakis is left standing in the on deck circle.

That's two games Kemp clearly could've won for LA had Torre not had him in the 7 hole. The guy is hitting 400 with huge power and speed. Hell, why not just bat him in the 8th or 9th slot Joe? Frickin idiot.

Torre, Hillman, and now Sciosia continue to mystify with some of those lineups.
