hamels is a bum that will BURN each and every one of his 7th round owners this year. don't let it be you
Cmon man, do you honestly expect anyone to believe this garbage?? AROD sucks in the playoffs too, drop him to the 5th round!! Manny is a god in the playoffs, draft him #1 overall!! Oh wait, PLAYOFF STATS DON'T COUNT! You're right, his last 3 starts were bad (I thought his last start was a relief appearance but I guess they pulled him after giving up 3 runs in 3 innings) but a few bad starts at the end of the season isn't going to scare off any knowledgeable owner dude...

I think based upon past experience after actual drafts it is safe to say you will see Hamels on all of Mark's teams and Hamels on none of Dave's.

Dave if you want to argue that one I will put out the Matt Kemp post before I believe the 2008 draft
The only person you would get me to move up is if you gave me an honest assessment of 6-8 type back end starters. You are excellent at that IMO. You blow so much hot air about greatness that I think that gets lost sometimes. The Gekko haters should check out the back end of his 2008 pitching staff.

I know you have strong legit feelings on Hamels as do I. I just would never waste my efforts or care to find out what they are.

hopefully i can get a little luckier in 2010.

I'm all for the fact that I still need to prove myself.. I learn new things every year and know I need to improve my overall game. I listen to what more experienced and great veteran owners have to say and I take note. I can and WILL do better. I promise you that.

Dave if you want to argue that one I will put out the Matt Kemp post before I believe the 2008 draft hahahaha... I wanted Matt Kemp SO BAD that year it was ridiculous... I knew he was going to be a 1st round talent and wanted in on the ground floor... was hoping to cast some doubt on him

Yeah, I mean, I know most of you all buy into this "draft only hitting in first 7 rounds" philosophy, but I sure as hell don't! Half the categories are PITCHING categories too.. yes, I know all the pitfalls of pitching, more luck and variance involved, blah blah blah... I am still taking the best value on the board regardless... if that means 3 pitchers in first 7 rounds then so-be-it.. in fact I would be shocked if I didn't have 3 through first 8 rounds... who says Hamels has to be my ONLY ace?? ;)

I'm all for hearing arguments against pitching early.. injuries? too much variance? easier to pick up on waiver wire? I mean, my experience has taught me that you should identify guys who are riskier than others and pay less for them, but everyone, hitters AND pitchers, get injured. Who could have been less likely to get injured than Grady Sizemore last year? Yet, he did! Yes, Brandon Webb did too, but it's not like it happens ALL the time or anything... too much variance? Do you have any doubt that Lincecum, Halladay, Sabathia, Felix, Greinke, Santana, Verlander, Haren, Lester, Wainwright, etc wont be top flight starters? Why shouldn't you pay for that?

Pitchers arms and speedsters legs are close to being in the same category for me. The major differince is that the speedster sees the field again quicker and basically runs the same. Pitchers are generally out longer and sometimes do not have the same 'stuff' as before they were hurt.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
