I've SUCKED enough in LABR despite a second place AL finish in the debut season of 1994 and a second and third place finish in the AL and NL with John Zaleski in 2006 that it's time to employ a hired gun. Since my team name in USA Today is NFBC, I felt it was best to bring in the best of the NFBC and hire Shawn Childs as my new co-manager. Shawn and I are going to double-team for both auctions and have the time of our lives, while hopefully winning a pair of industry league titles.
If this were the Iditarod, Shawn would be the lead dog and I'd be sitting back on the sled drinking Yukon Jack!!

I thank Shawn for taking the time out of his busy and hectic family life to join me in the Valley of the Sun for this. He's travelling on his dime and doing this for fun, while all the while knowing that his knowledge of baseball far exceeds mine now or ever before. I spend more time these days dealing with hotel contracts than player values, which is a far cry from how my time was spent a decade ago. So I need Shawn more than he needs me. But it's great to get Shawn involved with this group and on a new stage and who knows where this could lead if he makes the right contacts. But again, I'm just glad he agreed to do this with me and we'll have more fun than anything else.
Mike Sheets is also in both auctions and will be representing the Fanball team. I hope Ryan joins him as a co-manager because that would be a lot of fun. Ryan, Shawn seconds my opinion and is ready for a side bet if you join Mike in Phoenix.

Okay, give Shawn some advice on how to deal with me (sorry, they don't allow drinking during these auctions or otherwise the advice of "just give Greg a 12-pack of Coronas and take charge" would be good advice) and how to deal with these industry pros. We'll take all the advice you can give us!! And root for the NFBC team this year. We'll run everything about our team this year on this thread, good or bad. Thanks all.
