I used to think about baseball to keep from thinking about sex, now I think of sex so I can quit thinking about baseball.
Fantasy has changed things.
What I am going to say in the following paragraphs will not endear me to anyone. Not to Greg. Not to Fanball. Probably not to NFBC'ers. I don't care. I'm not running for office.
Last night as we were waiting for our free agent bids to come back, I thought of how these odd fellows and how they had become a secondary family to me. Greg, the father. Tom and Geoff, the uncle's. and us, the squabbling brothers along with sister Jules, of course.
Anyways, there we are, all of us waiting and waiting. Some giving up and going to bed. Then I notice that Greg does not have his name on the MB visitors place. After giving Geoff some info and imploring him to shut down rosters because they were not right (I figured no information is better than misinformation), after he responded that he didn't have that power, I went to bed.
I went to bed hoping everything would be ok this morning. As everyone knows, it wasn't. I don't post things when I'm upset. Especially when others are already doing it. What is one more pisssed off voice? I wasn't upset that things weren't done. Heck, a small part of me expected it. Fanball has not earned that trust. Especially on the technical end. No, I was upset that there was nobody there late at night or early this morning to tell us what was going on.
In six years of being with the NFBC, I've never thought that they gave less than 100%, last night and this morning, I did. For 12 hours, with literally over 100 people on the boards and sometimes close to 300, there was nobody there to answer questions.
The endless screams and squawks continued until two hours before game time when Greg posted that they were back on the case.
From two hours before game time till now is the NFBC customer service that I have come to appreciate over the years. Working tirelessly to try and correct wrongs, trying to make as many people that were unhappy, happy again. There is nothing like seeing Greg with his back up against the wall, a thing of beauty.
Some of the posts during this time were comical in their stupidity. Frustrations bring out the worst in people. Except you, John. You don't even have to be frustrated

Some of these customers were irate, maybe selfish enough to post gripes after Greg asked them not to, so that he could use the thread for updates.
With so many people on the site, it dragged to a crawl and less posters made sense.
Common sense was needed.
What will come of all this?
I'd be willing to bet that someone from the NFBC crew will be on available till FAAB has been distributed to all.
Fanball takes a hit. It'll take awhile for customers to trust Fanball as much as other NFBC owners in the past. As far as trusting Fanball as much as the trust in Greg, I don't think that ever happens.
In a few months we'll laugh about this....oh crap...who am I kidding, no we won't. But maybe we'll look back in a couple of years and see this as the low spot for Fanball and the NFBC. If so, I can live with that.
Greg, you and the team made a great comeback today.
Kudo's.
You showed why we trust you to the degree that we do.
Has Fanball lost customers?
If that had to be answered today, then yes.
But Greg has a knack of winning people over with his hard work. Despite misgivings about Fanball, Greg will keep most coming back.
